Diversity & Inclusion

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are three of WellBeing Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine’s core values. These are at the heart of the way the partners and staff will practice medicine, but also reflect the way they will run the practice. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, racism is a social determinant to physical and mental health. As healthcare providers, we believe confronting institutional racism must involve implementing new approaches rather than relying solely on the same old practices that allowed racism within medicine to persist.

We are committed to the following:

Treating all patients regardless of race, sexuality, or gender.

Celebrating the diversity of children and families and promoting nurturing, inclusive environments and actively opposing intolerance, bigotry, bias, and discrimination. We are committed to using policy, advocacy, and education to encourage inclusivity and cultural effectiveness for all.

Embracing that children are increasingly diverse, with differences that may include race, ethnicity, language spoken at home, religion, disability and special health care needs, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and other attributes.

Creating a safe space for patients and the families that builds community and works to dismantle institutional racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia.

Recruiting, supporting, and promoting talented, diverse individuals as employees and to fostering a work environment that embraces and celebrates diversity, promotes inclusiveness, and treats all employees with dignity and respect.

Continued self evaluation and correction of our own unconscious bias.

Environmentally Conscious Healthcare

Our goal is to minimize our impact on the environment. Many standards of care in the medical field require the use of a significant amount of resources like single-use sterile medical supplies. We are working towards a paperless practice, offer telemedicine visits to reduce unnecessary travel, and utilize sterilizable/reusable medical supplies when able. We implemented water-saving plumbing, reused building materials,  and utilized sustainable and toxin-free building materials in our buildout. In addition, we have installed additional insulation and a high-efficiency electric HVAC system for the building. Lastly, we use ec0-friendly cleaning supplies.
