Adolescent Medicine

IMG_1593 (1).jpg

As a life stage of becoming an adult, adolescent visits are geared toward helping the teen learn to negotiate the health care visit and advocate for themself. Adolescent patients are encouraged to communicate their desire for privacy vs. having a support person with them in the room. In addition to assessing physical growth, patients will be asked about nutrition, movement, sleep, their sense of community and support, sexual history, substance use, and mental health screening. Adolescent visits are done yearly.
